Holtec International completed the acquisition of the Palisades Power Plant and the Big Rock Point site from Entergy Corporation today.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved the transfer of the Palisades Power Plant to Holtec International after the facility permanently shuts down in the spring of 2022. The approval also allows the transfer of Entergy’s decommissioned Big Rock Point facility near Charlevoix, Michigan, where only the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation (ISFSI) remains.
Holtec International and Entergy Corporation have jointly submitted a License Transfer Application to the USNRC requesting approval to transfer the NRC license for the Palisades Power Plant to Holtec.
At Holtec, 2018 will be remembered as the year when the Company’s four-year quest to launch its decommissioning program reached a successful milestone.
