Holtec Palisades in Covert, Michigan, is blazing a trail never before experienced in the global nuclear power industry. This 800-megawatt facility, shut down in May 2022 with plans for decommissioning, is being prepared for a new life. Thanks to a groundswell of support from the State of Michigan and the US Department of Energy, Holtec International, the plant owner, plans to repower the facility.

Getting Palisades back online gives Michigan a clean, reliable, safe source of continued energy. It provides hundreds of jobs to the community, as well as extended economic benefits for the region.

Benefits of Restarting Palisades

An economic engine, providing jobs, commerce and financial support to the region

Employment opportunities for the region’s skilled craftspeople and professionals

Nuclear power is green power, with no emissions, no pollutants, no greenhouse gases

A good neighbor that supports and contributes to the community economically and socially

An organization that not only stays ahead of energy technology, but invents it!

Clean energy reliability, 24/7/365, even when electricity demand is at its highest
