Senior local and New Jersey state officials, led by Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, celebrated the “beam topping-off” ceremony, along with some 200 assembled county residents, members of the media and Holtec’s professionals hailing a major milestone for the Holtec Technology Campus (HTC). The last, approximately 115 foot-long girder, signed by most attendees, was hoisted into place completing the structural backbone of the Campus’ main fabrication plant. Holtec’s investment to build and equip the fifty-acre campus, now topping $300 million, has caused a boom in the local construction industry, which will evolve into long term jobs when the plant opens for business in less than a year. In addition to the Manufacturing Facility, construction is also progressing rapidly on the Corporate Engineering Office, a light Manufacturing Facility, a Small Modular Reactor test loop, and a number of ancillary amenities within the Campus. At a press conference on July 14, 2014, at the South Jersey Port Corporation’s Broadway Terminal hosted by Camden Mayor Ms. Dana Redd, Governor Chris Christie called the rise of cities like Camden essential to the prosperity of the State. Addressing the more than 200 people in attendance, Governor Christie praised Dr. Singh and Holtec for the commitment to build a $260 million dollar world-class technology center on the Camden waterfront stating, “your pledge to choose New Jersey to build the state-of-the-art 600,000 square foot manufacturing and design center is more than just an investment in your business, it is an investment in New Jersey and the renewal of manufacturing here in Camden.” Governor Christie also acknowledged that the commitment by Holtec marks the largest single investment of private capital in the history of Camden. We are pleased to announce that Holtec International is entering into an agreement with the State of New Jersey to build a world class, state-of-the-art Technology Center which would include a massive manufacturing complex, a reactor test loop facility, and a corporate engineering building.  The Center, which is expected to cost over $260 million and will take up to four years to build, represents the largest single investment of private capital in the history of Camden.
