We are pleased to announce that after months of good faith negotiation, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and Holtec have amicably and productively come to agreement on all key issues related to the safe decommissioning of the shuttered Pilgrim nuclear plant.
With a multitude of activities underway, Holtec’s Oyster Creek and Pilgrim decommissioning sites continue to make significant progress and remain on schedule.
Our ongoing decommissioning programs at Oyster Creek and Pilgrim are fueled by creativity and innovation to efficiently transition these sites to enable them to host diverse commercial economic activities at the earliest possible date.
We are pleased to report that both of our decommissioning sites, Oyster Creek in Lacey Township, NJ and Pilgrim in Plymouth, Massachusetts, are setting new levels of excellence in every relevant metric of performance as they drive forward with safe and efficient deconstruction of the shuttered nuclear plants.

(more…)Holtec International’s subsidiaries completed the acquisition of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Massachusetts from Entergy Corporation today.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) approved the transfer of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station operating license today from Entergy Corporation to Holtec International for decommissioning.
At Holtec, 2018 will be remembered as the year when the Company’s four-year quest to launch its decommissioning program reached a successful milestone.
Entergy Corp. and Holtec International, through their affiliates, asked the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) today to approve the sale of the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station to Holtec after shutdown. Holtec plans to complete decommissioning and site restoration decades sooner than if Entergy completed decommissioning.
