Holtec is saddened to observe that Indian Point Unit 2, competently operated by Entergy since 2001 and having served as a prominent clean energy producer in New York, is shutting down today - a casualty of the competition from the prevailing ultra-cheap fossil fuel prices and government subsidized renewable energy.
Holtec and Framatome have entered into an agreement to enable completion of all necessary engineering to fuel the SMR-160 with Framatome’s commercially available and well-proven 17 x 17 GAIA fuel assembly.
Our ongoing decommissioning programs at Oyster Creek and Pilgrim are fueled by creativity and innovation to efficiently transition these sites to enable them to host diverse commercial economic activities at the earliest possible date.
We are pleased to announce that the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission (USNRC) has issued a draft environmental impact statement for Holtec International’s proposed consolidated interim storage facility (CISF) called HI-STORE CISF in southeastern New Mexico.
We are pleased to report that both of our decommissioning sites, Oyster Creek in Lacey Township, NJ and Pilgrim in Plymouth, Massachusetts, are setting new levels of excellence in every relevant metric of performance as they drive forward with safe and efficient deconstruction of the shuttered nuclear plants.
