When eight high school graduates began work as Holtec International associates the end of June, they brought with them the skills that often only come with time and experience. But thanks to a strong partnership between several area Commercial and Technical Education (CTE) schools, these young individuals got a jump-start on their future and Holtec is reaping the benefits of expert tradespeople.

A $7.4 Billion Nuclear Build Program Submitted to the Loan Programs Office of the DOE to Bring Forth the First Batch of SMR-160s and a Massive Expansion of Holtec’s Domestic Manufacturing Capacity

On March 9, 2022, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) approved Part I of Holtec International’s loan application for building small modular reactors (SMRs) and invited the company to apply for a federal loan to help build four SMR-160s and to expand the company’s manufacturing capacity to build the first wave of nuclear reactors in large numbers.

NRC Issues Final Environmental Impact Statement for Holtec’s Consolidated Interim Storage Facility 

We are pleased to announce that the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) has issued the final environmental impact statement (EIS) for Holtec International’s proposed HI-STORE consolidated interim storage facility (CISF) for spent nuclear fuel in Southeastern New Mexico.

All Non-Fuel Waste from Oyster Creek and Pilgrim Nuclear Plants Packaged and Placed in Environmentally-Sequestered Storage 

Holtec International is pleased to announce that, following the record-breaking defueling of the Oyster Creek and Pilgrim Nuclear spent fuel pools, both facilities’ high-level waste parts have been safely and successfully loaded into Holtec’s HI-SAFE storage systems and securely stored at the respective sites.

Holtec Announces Agreement with Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. to Develop SMR-160 Digital Instrumentation System

Holtec International is pleased to announce it has reached an agreement with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation’s U.S. subsidiary Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. to design and engineer the digital instrumentation and control systems (I&C) for its SMR-160 small modular reactor.
