Dry Cask Storage and Transportation
Holtec’s Dry Storage and Transportation systems provide safe, efficient solutions for managing and moving spent nuclear fuel. Featuring the versatile Multi-Purpose Canister and the proven HI-STORM and HI-STAR systems, they ensure secure, passive, and reliable performance from storage to transport.

HI-STORM
HI-STORM (Holtec International Storage Module) is Holtec International’s Multi-Purpose Canister (MPC) system for the dry storage of used nuclear fuel. HI-STORM is available in multiple models: 1) below ground, 2) above-ground, free-standing, 3) above-ground, anchored.
HI-STAR
HI-STAR is the nuclear industry’s first high-capacity, multi-purpose canister. Designed for transporting and storing spent nuclear fuel and GTCC waste, HI-STAR combines the strength of a nuclear pressure vessel with the durability of a transport cask.

Multi-Purpose Canisters
The Multi-Purpose Canister (MPC), conceptualized by the U.S. Department of Energy as a single versatile package equally suitable for on-site storage, transport, and permanent disposal in a future repository, was developed into physical embodiment by Holtec International in 1992.
HI-TRAC
All HI-STORM Systems utilize the HI-TRAC Transfer Cask for transporting the MPC from the spent fuel pool and for inter-cask MPC transfer required for on-site storage and off-site transport. It is designed to optimize shielding and ease decontamination during loading and unloading operations.

HI-SAFE
HI-SAFE is a safe and cost-effective solution for the on-site storage and transport of non-fuel radioactive waste. It is designed to handle Class B, Class C, and Greater-Than-Class-C (GTCC) waste, including highly activated metal components from reactor systems.
