
Thomas P. Howe
Chief Finance Officer
Thomas P. Howe is Holtec International’s Chief Finance Officer (CFO). He is responsible for leading the company’s finance and accounting departments both in the US and abroad.
Howe is a seasoned executive with more than three decades of experience driving acquisitions and integrations, executing strategic planning, transforming financial reporting, and strengthening internal controls to deliver sustainable growth and organizational excellence. Howe combines deep financial expertise with strategic vision to implement robust control frameworks to continuously advance corporate performance. Known for his strategic vision, M&A expertise, and commitment to strong governance and compliance, Howe has built a career on aligning financial rigor with long-term strategies to deliver lasting value.
Professional History
Before joining Holtec, Howe built an extensive leadership career at BMO US, culminating as Chief Operating Officer of the BMO Family Office, the bank’s ultra high net worth business unit with $25B of AUM, and Head of Stoker Ostler Wealth Advisors, a $3B RIA subsidiary. In these roles, he developed and executed multi-year technology roadmaps, integrated multiple legacy businesses into unified, high-performing units, and enhanced financial reporting transparency for leadership and board decision-making. As Chairman of the SOWA Board, he directed governance and strategic decisions that delivered sustained outperformance in net new assets and sales.
Howe spent more than a decade in finance leadership at BMO Private Bank, serving as Chief Financial Officer for several of those years. In this capacity, he led the creation of the bank’s annual five-year strategic plan, implemented SOX-aligned controls, developed sophisticated financial models for new initiatives, and designed cost-to-serve and KPI dashboards to enhance decision-making. He also provided financial leadership for eight acquisitions (including brokerages, RIAs, and a ban) overseeing valuations, due diligence, and integration to ensure strategic and financial alignment. His efforts streamlined reporting timelines, produced millions in savings, improved internal controls, and strengthened organizational agility.
Earlier in his career, as Head of Strategic Initiatives for BMO Private Bank, Howe guided large-scale operational redesigns, process digitization, and financial reporting enhancements that improved efficiency, client satisfaction, and scalability. His leadership as Managing Director drove double-digit CAGR in trust and investment sales while elevating both employee engagement and client NPS scores.
Education
Howe holds an MBA in Finance from Northern Illinois University and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from Illinois State University.
