Dr. Kalyan K. Niyogi is a corporate executive engineer with more than five decades of experience in the nuclear industry, spanning nuclear power plant design, safety analysis, regulatory licensing, operation, plant modifications, and improvements, and spent nuclear fuel management. He held progressively senior technical and managerial roles and made significant contributions to the operating nuclear plants, decommissioning, and restarting nuclear plants.

Dr. Niyogi has served in senior engineering leadership positions at Holtec International, providing strategic direction and technical oversight for the design, analysis, and licensing of dry spent nuclear fuel storage systems and associated facilities. His work includes prototype testing of spent fuel drying systems and thermal performance testing of double‑walled canisters deployed in the Chernobyl remediation projects. He has served as Site Manager at several nuclear plants, where he developed and implemented facilities and processes for spent fuel loading operations. He has also served as Technical Director for major projects subject to exceptionally stringent regulatory and industrial safety requirements.

Dr. Niyogi currently serves as Vice President – Nuclear Consultants International (NCI) in Camden, New Jersey. He holds a Ph.D. and is widely recognized for his leadership of large, multidisciplinary engineering organizations; his expertise in navigating complex regulatory environments; his advancement of safe, reliable spent fuel management technologies; and his long‑standing commitment to engineering standards development, professional training, and the cultivation of future technical leaders in high‑reliability, safety‑critical nuclear environments.

Nuclear Consultants International, LLC (NCI) is an autonomously constituted business unit of Holtec International. NCI provides management and technical support services to nuclear utilities and industrial clients, with a principal focus on oversight of decommissioning projects to ensure regulatory and safety compliance in alignment with ALARA principles. Acting as an Owner’s Engineer, NCI conducts goal‑focused reviews of contractor work products, deploying experienced professionals to inspect, measure, assess, and advise on program and project performance to ensure that client expectations are met.

Dr. Niyogi has served as Chairman of the American Nuclear Society Subcommittee and Chairman of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers – Nuclear Pressure Vessel and Piping Committee. He has authored several dozen technical publications.
