Senior Vice President of International Projects
Dr. William S. Woodward joined Holtec in 2003 and serves as Holtec’s Senior Vice President of International Projects. With forty years of experience in nuclear technology and programs development, Dr. Woodward is Holtec’s corporate executive responsible for the development of the company’s international nuclear business. Under his leadership, Holtec has expanded its spent fuel storage business into ten countries on four continents.
Dr. Woodward received his Ph.D. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania in 1976 and 1972 respectively. He received his B.S.M.E. from the University of Delaware in 1970. Dr. Woodward began in his career in Westinghouse where contributed to the development of the Clinch River Breeder Reactor Project. Following that he served in executive management at the Westinghouse Science and Technology Center, where he directed Westinghouse’s research programs for both the nuclear fuels and the nuclear services business sectors, including the U.S. DOE Multi-purpose Canister development program. For the past six years Dr. Woodward has served on the Civil Nuclear Trade Advisory Committee that provides counsel to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce on the development of programs to expand U.S. exports of civil nuclear goods and services. Dr. Woodward is the author of a dozen archival papers, numerous internal reports, and one patent. He is a member of the ASME and is a Registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania. Dr. Woodward is a member of the Executive Committee of Holtec International.
